RTM has vast experience in all types and sizes of industrial projects, including printing plants, food processing facilities, distribution centers, and manufacturing facilities.
When awarded an industrial project, RTM treats the project as “mission critical.” This mentality allows RTM to deliver responsive consultation and provide redundancy in the designs to create an efficient and reliable process for clients. RTM understands that any loss in production due to design or construction delays will incur costly consequences.
For the Walgreens Distribution Center, located in Jupiter, Fl., RTM Engineering Consultants designed the MEP/FP and special systems for the 750,000-square-foot facility. RTM received an Excellence in Engineering award from ASHRAE for the HVAC design.
The HVAC design consisted of a thermal storage chilled water system, including control systems, 45 air handling units, three 1,500-ton chillers, and a 1.3 million-gallon thermal storage tank.
To save on energy costs, the chiller ran at night during the off-peak hours at zero demand charge, stored in a thermal storage tank, and used cooling during normal operating hours. It is estimated to save approximately $50,000 per month in utility costs.
