RTM is providing MEP/FP engineering services for a new 285,000-square-foot, five-story mixed-use development in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood.
The site, once a Dominick’s grocery store and vacant since a fire in 2005, now serves as a surface parking lot. The new building will reactivate the vacant site with an environmentally sustainable design.
RTM designed a warm shell for multiple tenant spaces within the building, including Mariano’s Fresh Market, XSport Fitness, Starbuck’s, PNC Bank and a number of smaller retail shops and restaurants. A 250-space parking garage also is planned.
Construction began in April 2015. RTM currently is providing construction administration and reviewing tenant documents for consistency of the MEP/FP systems and ensuring connection to the base building systems.
The base building will be LEED certified and will be considered a high-rise per the City of Chicago. It is scheduled to be opened in June 2016.
