Wilton Brands, a global market leader in baking and specialty food products, moved its corporate headquarters from Woodridge to Naperville, Illinois. In order to meet its diverse and comprehensive needs in the new space, Wilton partnered with RTM Engineering Consultants. RTM provided MEP engineering and design for the 86,000-square-foot tenant build-out.
Wilton’s new multi-floor headquarters combined all of its departments in one building, promoting greater team collaboration and unity. The bright, contemporary space merged both offices and specialty areas for food preparation and media production, including:
- Private offices
- Conference rooms
- A café and wellness room
- Five test kitchens
- A food scientist lab
- A decorating studio
- Video and photography studios
The RTM engineering team has extensive experience creating MEP/FP systems to accommodate specific food preparation, handling, and storage requirements and Wilton’s test kitchens, food scientist lab, decorating room, and café was designed to be able to handle heavy professional use, as well as meet state and federal codes and standards.
RTM designed Wilton’s building systems to support safe and efficient food development spaces. The engineering team configured upgraded power, supplemental cooling, and HVAC modifications. RTM piped natural gas to kitchen appliances and installed commercial kitchen hoods, make-up air, grease traps, and a dehumidification system for the cake decorating studio.
Providing sufficient primary and secondary power was a priority for the project. RTM’s design included a custom 775-square-foot server room incorporating a new 100kva UPS system and an existing 125kw generator for emergency power.
Wilton’s new headquarters blends everything the company needs under one roof, showcases the brand’s industry expertise and gives employees in all departments a beautiful, functional place to do their best work.
