Milan Engineering, a division of RTM, was retained to make modifications to replace four escalators at Orlando International Airport Landside from Level T to Level Three (3).
Milan Engineering was tasked to create design criteria documents for the replacement of the four escalators at landside. The team performed pre-design and contractor assist inspections at each escalator and created documents for the replacement of the escalators. Milan also provided design/build construction administration services including review of documents to be in conformance with GOAA standards and the design criteria.
One of the challenges the Milan team faced was coordinating the project around the airport’s schedule. Orlando International Airport could not shut off the escalators during their busiest time of the day. Milan abided to the restraint and was able to smoothly coordinate schedules to effectively replace the escalators without disrupting the transit of people in the airport.
