Doug has nearly 30 years of versatile experience in design and construction administration of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems. He has worked on projects for a long list of facility types, including: warehouse and distribution centers, vehicle maintenance structures, food processing and refrigeration facilities, pharmaceutical labs, retail centers, restaurants, and data centers. In addition, Doug has been involved in building projects for the hospitality, healthcare, residential, commercial, educational and government sectors.
Doug’s responsibilities at RTM involve managing multiple projects from conception through construction, coordinating with all internal and external team members, developing concepts and systems layouts, analysis of code and jurisdictional requirements and determining optimum equipment selections. His familiarity with the aspects of translating design into construction makes him an invaluable asset throughout the life cycle of a project.
Doug joined RTM in 2004. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northern Illinois University and is an active member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE).
What do you like best about working at RTM?
It feels like a big family without the drama. The great culture drives great work product. I also appreciate that everyone’s situation is different, and the company is flexible with everyone’s needs and desires.
What do you bring to RTM?
Calm, glass half-full attitude. I put out the fires. I like to think that I help everyone navigate through this thing called work and make it the best for each of them.
What’s a fun fact about yourself?
Besides having 10 kids, six dogs and a cat (like that isn’t enough), I am also a huge car nut. Custom and exotic cars are my love. I am an avid DIY’er at home; I do everything myself. I don’t use contractors; although sometimes I get my kids to help out! Also, though I was offered a sponsorship after high school to join the professional bowler’s tour, I instead went to college to be an engineer.
Doug is based in RTM’s office headquarters in South Barrington, Ill. and can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
