Walgreens Southeast Distribution Center | Anderson, SC

RTM designed the MEP/FP systems for a new 800,000-square-foot distribution center for Walgreens Company.

RTM was involved in the design of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, lighting, power distribution and low voltage special systems for the facility. The design included nine 4,000 amp 277/480V, three-phase unitized switchboards with a 2,500 kva built-in transformer with three 12kV primary service outdoor lineups. The switchboards provided power to several conveyor motor control panels powering to 5,500 HP of motors, 43 high speed cranes for ASRS areas, 20 automatic carousels, two 1,500-ton chillers, pumps and cooling towers, a 1.6-million-gallon thermal storage tank, and 60 rooftop air handling units with power exhaust fans for smoke evacuation.

The facility houses a 1.6 million gallon thermal storage tank supplying over 3,000-tons of cooling and a 300 kVA UPS for powering several PCs distributed throughout the facility. It also includes one 750 kVA emergency generator for egress lights and UPS and a second 1,500 kVA standby generator for critical Rx HVAC loads.
