Orange County Courthouse, Temporary Chiller Assessment
Orange County, Orlando, FL
This project involved a study of the existing Orange County Courthouse in downtown Orlando to determine feasibility of providing power and chilled water connections for a bank of temporary chillers in case of main chiller failure. Mechanical and electrical design services were provided. This project entailed a 30% level design of the new connections involved in connecting to the courthouse existing infrastructure. Since phasing is very important to these types of connections, RTM performed a review of the existing as-built documents and also conducted several surveys on site of the existing building’s chilled water/condenser water piping and pumps, electrical system and physical site. Several local vendors of temporary chillers were contacted to understand availability of equipment and how it would tie into the existing building’s chilled water system. To ensure the building would remain operational during infrastructure work, RTM determined optimum points of connection and any valves/ breakers that would be required to be installed during weekend hours.
