RTM provided MEP/FP engineering for a tenant build-out in a high-rise building located at 205 N. Michigan in Chicago for News America Marketing. The existing 15,500-square-foot space was completely bare; however, the building had a central air handling system with the main ducts already run throughout the floor. There also was an existing electrical room with a separately metered service to utilize.
One of the biggest challenges with this project was working with the age and conditions of the existing equipment. Preliminary surveys were performed to investigate these existing conditions and determine what would be applicable for re-use, and what new equipment would need to be provided for the build-out.
RTM worked closely with the architect in order to establish space planning in areas where existing building systems could not be relocated. The team also coordinated with the building engineer to ensure that the new systems and layouts would comply with building standards.
