RTM performed full electrical engineering services, including lighting design, fire alarm and nurse call systems, and power distribution for the Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare Family Care Center (FCC) replacement facility.
The previous building that housed the FCC was determined to be a total loss after the area flooded in 2010. The new single-story facility, which is 7,000 square feet larger than the former building to allow for program expansion, is located at a higher site to prevent future flooding issues. Utilizing the principles of patient-centered design, the replacement center accommodates 32 exam rooms, three procedure rooms, physician offices, and conference rooms.
The FCC is focused on providing innovative family medicine to the community and serves as a teaching site for the St. Joseph Family Medicine Residency Program. To educate patients, the building includes a demonstration kitchen and a garden that supplies fruits and vegetables to be used in cooking classes.
