DISTRIBUTION CENTER Jupiter, FL RTM & Associates designed the MEP/FP and special systems for Walgreens' 750,000 SF distribution center. RTM received an Excellence in Engineering award from ASHRAE for the HVAC design. The thermal storage chilled water system included control systems, (45) AHU's, three 1500 ton chillers, and a 1.3 million gallon thermal storage tank. To save on energy costs, the chiller ran at night during the off-peak hours at zero demand charge, stored in a thermal storage tank, and used cooling during normal operating hours. It is estimated to save approximately $50,000 per month in utility costs.
